          With the importance and centrality of strategic planning for any institution, regardless of its specialty or size, Al-Kitab University, which is young in its age, well-established in establishing its footing among Iraqi, Arab and international universities, has taken the path of strategic planning early, by following phased, medium and long-term plans to ensure expansion and development horizontally and vertically. To reflect the steady growth achieved by this university within a few years from its first founding in the year 2012, in which it emerged as a university college with only three scientific departments, until the present day in which this small college has become a university that includes 9 colleges with 24 scientific departments, which is attended by More than 12 thousand students receive their education from more than 500 teachers, and its various affairs are managed by more than 250 employees.

This growth was accompanied by the expansion of buildings, facilities, laboratories, halls, the teaching hospital, gymnasiums, and other university supplies and facilities, which extend over an area of more than 100 dunams, in conjunction with the development of many specialized scientific and advisory centers, such as centers for scientific research, continuing education, e-learning, and others, all of which were subject to planning. A prior scientific study took into account the needs of the university and the requirements of the modern teaching process, as well as the extent to which the university’s outputs are compatible with the requirements of the labor market and the needs of the state and society, and was subjected to a SWAT analysis to accurately and scientifically identify the weaknesses in every aspect of the university.

Advance planning also helped Al-Kitab University overcome some new and unexpected pitfalls and problems, such as the challenges faced by university education in Iraq and the world, under the weight of the distancing and ban measures imposed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, which prompted the university to innovate new mechanisms to confront the new reality. In the field of blended education, to ensure the success of the educational process and ensure its continuity despite the circumstances and obstacles imposed by the pandemic.
